Musico-Narrative Works
Works in which music and narration operate as interdependent forces of storytelling. These compositions in the Musico-Narrative genre highlight a unique mode of artistic communication, in which narration and music are inseparable in storytelling, with narration as musical as the music itself, and music as narrative as the narration.
Men’s Tears is a musico-narrative work composed by Pouria Khadem for narrator and solo Persian microtonal piano.
Based on a poem by Nosrat Rahmani, the piece is narrated by the renowned actor Parviz Parastui, with Khadem himself performing the solo piano. Narration and music function as two inseparable elements, shaping a dramatic space that follows the course of Rahmani’s narrative.
